Wave / Futura – Peill & Putzler, 1970s

Wave wall or ceiling lamp, also known as Futura, produced by the German manufacturer Peill & Putzler in the 1970s and attributed to Koch & Lowy.

The large white opaline glass diffuser is shaped into an organic, asymmetrical form, traversed by a succession of concentric ribs. The wavy relief creates a highly three-dimensional surface that, when illuminated, amplifies the depth of the glass and produces a unique interplay of light and shadow.

The composition alternates smooth and grooved surfaces around the central light source, transforming the diffuser into a truly sculptural element. A significant example of the formal experimentation of European lighting in the 1970s, poised between Space Age language and organic design.

The lamp can be installed either on the wall as a sconce or on the ceiling as a ceiling light.
