“Transmission / Pause” illuminated sign – Italy, 1960s
This non-double-sided illuminated sign, made in Italy in the 1960s, was originally used in technical environments such as radio and television studios, or recording studios.
The case structure is made of folded and painted sheet metal, with obvious signs of surface oxidation that testify to its use and define its industrial character. The front is closed by a silkscreened plastic panel (probably Plexiglas), inserted into a gold-finish metal frame.
The graphics are divided into two distinct sections:
– "Broadcast" in red
– "Pause" in green
Internal diffused lighting, designed to backlight the front panel and ensure high readability. It features a ventilation grille on the top and a side opening system for technical access.
Conceived for an operational purpose, it now has a strong decorative value linked to industrial aesthetics and the world of analog broadcasting.
