Space Age table lamp in chrome-plated metal and opal glass, 1960s–1970s
This table lamp features a minimalist composition of spherical and hemispherical forms, characteristic of the Space Age design aesthetic of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
The base consists of a hemispherical chrome-plated metal shell, punctuated at the top by a ring of circular cutouts. Above this, a chrome connecting element supports a large spherical white opal glass diffuser, secured by a metal collar.
The contrast between the reflective surface of the base and the milky opacity of the globe creates an object with a near-futuristic appearance, defined by pure geometric shapes and a strong sculptural presence—even when the light is off.
The cutouts in the lower shell also serve a ventilation function, a detail that underscores the design's technical and industrial nature.
