Smoked glass pendant lamp with internal opaline decoration – Italy, 1970s
Italian pendant lamp from the 1970s featuring a blown smoked glass globe embellished with an internal decoration of hot-applied milky opaline glass, which unfolds in a soft, enveloping spiral.
This detail creates a layered visual effect: the transparent smoked glass interacts with the milky glass within, generating depth and a warm, diffused, and never direct light. The opaline inclusion is not a defect but a decorative feature integrated into the glass.
The upper structure in chromed metal, with a cylinder and exposed side beads, recalls the technical-industrial language typical of Lombardy production in the early 1970s.
Attributed to Italian production in the Milan area, in the style of Goffredo Reggiani.
Perfect above a table, in an entryway, or installed in pairs to enhance the materiality of the glass.
Period: 1970s
Materials: Blown smoked glass with internal opaline milk glass decoration, chrome-plated metal
Condition: Good overall condition with minor signs of aging consistent with its age
