Sculptural glass and chrome-plated metal chandelier, 1970s
An original Italian-made pendant chandelier from the 1970s, distinguished by a highly sculptural structure and an intriguing interplay of layered glass and metal elements.
A central cylindrical chrome-plated metal body supports multiple light sources, each shielded by an elongated, flared opal white glass diffuser. Large, shaped chrome-plated sheet metal elements wrap around the glass components, curved and perforated in a free-flowing, dynamic pattern.
The interplay of reflective surfaces, transparency, and opal glass creates a striking visual effect—characteristic of the formal experimentation in Italian lighting design during the 1970s, which blended Space Age influences with sculptural aesthetics.
Suspended via a large-link chain and a chrome-plated ceiling canopy.
