Reception key rack
Italy, mid-twentieth century (circa 1940s–1950s)
Professional reception key rack, crafted entirely from solid wood, featuring a compact structure with rounded corners and internal divisions into inclined compartments arranged on three levels.
Each compartment features an original numbered brass tag, designed for organizing keys in hotels and offices. A minimalist, functional system, typical of mid-twentieth-century Italian service furnishings, where efficiency precedes aesthetics but ultimately determines them.
The wood retains an authentic patina, marked by time and use, while the brass features a natural oxidation consistent with its age. No invasive restoration work has been carried out.
Designed for everyday use in hotels and large reception areas, today it can be reinterpreted as a wall-mounted or free-standing key holder, or as an organizer for a study, atelier, or commercial space, while maintaining its original character.
A silent and functional object, in which the memory of work becomes a formal value.
