This plate rack, dating back to the early 1900s, is a beautiful example of Italian rural furniture made of solid wood, probably fir or cherry, as was often used in plate racks of the late 19th and early 20th centuries
Wall-mounted plate rack, designed for display – typical of antique home furnishings, designed to contain and display the “good service” .
• Grooves on the shelves: the shelves have flat grooves, useful for stabilizing plates and saucers
• Side panels and tenon joints: the vertical uprights are visibly sturdy, with possible mortise and tenon joints in the structure – a practical and resistant technique used in rustic sideboards and plate racks
