Pendant lamp in ribbed glass and satin-finish metal, 1960s
Pendant lamp featuring a metal structure with a satin nickel finish, composed of a central stem and an upper hemispherical dome, with turned details and small exposed decorative pins.
The diffuser is made of transparent molded glass with a vertical ribbed pattern (also known as "prismatic" or "ribbed"), obtained using an industrial mold. This type of pattern is not engraved but is created directly during the glass casting process, creating a rhythmic, three-dimensional surface that serves both an aesthetic and technical function: the grooves diffuse the light uniformly, reducing glare and generating a soft, enveloping glow.
The slightly rounded shape of the diffuser, combined with the regularity of the ribbing, recalls Italian production in the 1960s for technical and industrial lighting, often used in public spaces, entrances, or workspaces, and later also found its way into the home.
