Pair of wrought-iron garden armchairs, Italy, mid-20th century
A pair of white-painted iron armchairs featuring a lightweight yet highly decorative structure. The backrest is formed by large, symmetrical iron-rod scrolls—motifs echoed in the armrests and lower supports—creating a sinuous, floral-inspired design.
The slightly contoured seat is made of perforated sheet iron featuring a delicate geometric pattern of crosses and dots. The four slender, tapered legs end in distinctive flattened, curved feet.
A particularly charming example of mid-20th-century Italian garden furniture, where the wrought-iron tradition is lightened by an almost graphic design composed of curls and continuous lines.
The white paintwork shows signs of age—including patina, oxidation, minor paint loss, and general wear—particularly on the seats and at the joints; these details bear witness to the pieces' history and age.
