Pair of "Jucker" table lamps by Tobia and Afra Scarpa for Flos, 1960s
A pair of "Jucker" table lamps designed by Tobia and Afra Scarpa for Flos in the late 1960s is an emblematic example of Italian research into radical design, industrial production, and experimentation with plastic materials.
Made of molded ABS with a glossy red lacquer finish, they feature the typical compact mushroom-shaped structure with an adjustable hemispherical diffuser secured by metal lateral pins. The movable dome allows for the modulation of direct and reflected light, creating a soft, dramatic illumination.
The low, compact proportions, combined with the bright, monochromatic surface, convey the period's space-age aesthetic, with a strong sculptural presence even when the lamp is off. The continuous, rounded profile recalls the futurist and pop aesthetic that made many Flos products iconic in the 1960s and 1970s.
Flos logo printed on the base.
