Opal glass chandelier, 1960s/70s
An elegant blown glass pendant lamp composed of two overlapping elements:
– the upper part is a compact cylinder in olive green glass, slightly translucent, with a glossy surface and substantial thickness;
– the lower part is a white opal glass dome, with soft, clean lines, which diffuses light evenly and delicately.
The transition between the two glass bodies is fluid, without visible metal sections, typical of Italian and Scandinavian production of the period. The lamp holder is recessed within the green cylinder, and the black cable descends in a linear fashion from the upper cap.
The compact shape, the green-and-white palette, and the use of double-colored glass recall the Murano school and the modernist pendant lamps of the mid-20th century: essential, functional, and decorative at the same time.
