Graphic work by Getulio Alviani (Udine, 1939 – Milan, 2018), one of the leading Italian exponents of kinetic and programmed art and of international optical-perceptual research.

Created in 1972 and part of the “Spectrological Colors” series, the work investigates the perception of color through the juxtaposition of large, pure chromatic surfaces. Two contrasting fields, intense blue and red-magenta, are connected by a thin vertical band in which the color progressively transforms across the spectrum, from blue and green to yellow and orange.

The composition reduces the image to its essential elements—surface, color, and variation—according to a central theme in Alviani's work: the work does not represent a subject, but constructs a visual experience in which color is perceived as a dynamic phenomenon.

The series belongs to the artist's most significant period in his graphic production. The Getulio Alviani Archive documents graphics and silkscreen printing as an integral part of his research on perception and visual structures.
