Folding garden chair in lacquered wood, 1940s–1950s

Folding chair with armrests made of varnished wood, characterized by a beautiful, aged patina due to natural wear and tear. The lightweight yet sturdy frame features a slightly curved slatted seat and a backrest with vertical slats, reminiscent of classic veranda or garden chairs from the mid-20th century.

The ivory-colored varnish, now extensively stripped, reveals underlying color layers in shades of red and natural wood, creating an authentic and highly decorative textured effect. The widespread abrasions, chipping, and even wear contribute to the piece's charm, making it perfect for contemporary settings or for wabi-sabi, coastal, or Provençal-inspired styles.

The folding system with exposed joints and a crisscross structure, typical of outdoor seating produced between the 1940s and 1950s, is particularly interesting. Ideal as an occasional chair, a decorative element, for a veranda, a photo shoot, or an interior with a lived-in, authentic feel.

Vintage condition with obvious signs of aging consistent with age and use: heavily worn paint and small surface irregularities that define its original character.
