Directoire walnut table with central drawer, Italy, late 18th century
Rectangular table in solid walnut, dating back to the Directoire period, characterized by a sober and essential line that marks the transition to a more rigorous and measured style.
The top, made of joined walnut slats, features a warm and deep patina, with natural color variations, signs of aging, and slight irregularities that testify to its authenticity and age. The linear structure features a simple under-table band and straight, slightly tapered legs, typical of late 18th-century production.
The front features a central drawer with a metal handle, discreetly integrated into the structure. The interior is lined with decorative paper, a later application that reflects its stratification of domestic use over time.
The compact proportions and clean lines make it extremely versatile: perfect as a writing desk, work table, or small kitchen table, it can fit effortlessly even in contemporary settings, creating an elegant dialogue of materials.
Condition: Good overall condition, with original patina and signs consistent with its age (surface wear, small irregularities on the top). Structurally
