Cocoon Pendant Lamp, Italy, 1960s
Pendant lamp made with an internal metal frame and a cocoon diffuser, an iconic material of post-war Italian design.
Cocoon is a resin sprayed in filaments onto a metal frame, creating a thin, irregular, and slightly fibrous surface that filters light in a soft, diffuse, almost milky way.
The shape is geometric yet softened: a faceted octagonal volume that tapers downwards, with a slightly ribbed central band that introduces rhythm and visual depth. The light, passing through the material, creates a warm and enveloping effect, very dramatic yet never invasive.
The ceiling rose and spiral cable contribute to maintaining an aesthetic consistent with mid-century Italian production.
Condition: Good, with minor signs of aging and small pitting in the material, typical and consistent with age
