Cane plant holder, Italy, 1960s–70s
A square-shaped plant holder made of natural cane, featuring a rigid structure and a surface composed of slender elements arranged diagonally. The geometric pattern shifts direction across the various panels, creating a graphic diamond motif and a beautiful variation in the material's tones.
The edges are finished with thicker cane sections, while the interior features a wooden panel structure designed to hold the plant pot. Small feet at the base slightly elevate the container off the floor.
A simple yet highly decorative object—typical of the exploration of natural materials in Italian design during the 1960s and 70s—that also works well as a general storage container or cache-pot.
